The panchakarma is done not only for curing the disease but also for preventive the disorder. Panchkarma needs a minimum of 5 days and the maximum we can extend up to 16 days, it all varies person to person and diseases to diseases.

Some pre-panchakarma means procedures which are done before actual panchakarma are called as Purva karma.

Purva karmas like Snehan ( body massage), Sweden( body steam), etc are useful for different disorders. This panchakarma will perform sometime in different seasons. So, let's do panchakarma for longevity, purification, and calmness of the body.

Vaman (Emesis)


Vaman is one of the types of panchakarma. Do people always ask a few questions about vaman like what is mean by vaman? Vaman is effective in which disorder? Vaman helpful for skin disease? Which will be suitable timing for vaman?

Vaman means induced emesis is a complex and important procedure in panchakarma which always very much useful in pitta and Kapha disorders. Vaman is generally carried out for 6 days to 8 days. In the process of vaman patient should consume mediated ghee before the procedure and along with 3 days massage and steam before the actual vaman procedure. Vaman is very much useful in various disorders like eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, alopecia, allergic dermatitis, migraine, infertility, lichen planus, acne, scalp psoriasis, polycystic ovarian disease, hyperacidity, recurrent boils, Vitiligo, hypothyroidism, menstrual abnormality, obesity, etc. Vaman is a type of purification in which most body will detoxify and the body removes toxins. The time or season of vaman is Vasant rutu or February and March but we can perform vaman at any time depending upon the severity of the disease. With the help of a vaman, we can decrease almost 3 kg weight in 7 days.

Virechan (Medicated Purgatives)

Virechan is a type of panchakarma in which medicated purgation is induced. Before virechan at least five days we suggest patients consume ghee in increased quantity. Virechan is Useful in mainly pitta disorder. Diseases like chronic constipation, urticaria, psoriasis, eczema, hyperacidity, migraine, chronic cough, lichen plans, obesity, piles, indigestion, cancer, asthma, allergy, etc. Some people always do yearly virechan for general purification and detoxification. Best season for virechan in October and November. We called as seasonal panchakarma.

Basti (Enema)


Enema is a very good panchakarma procedure in which medicated oil or decoction is inserted from the anal region. There are different types of enema like enema which will purify your body or enema which will strengthen your body. This procedure is very much useful for Vata disorder like osteoarthritis, knee pain, neck pain, spondylitis, paralysis, back pain, sciatica, chronic constipation, etc. These procure we can perform from child to old age person also, there is no restriction while performing this procedure. According to Acharya Charaka basti or enema is the main treatment of panchakarma.

Nasya is the procedure in which medicated oil is poured in both nostrils after local massage and steam. This procedure is useful for the main problems that originated from the above clavicle. Diseases like migraine, chronic headache, chronic sinusitis, hair fall, chronic allergies, ear problems, eye problems, etc.we can perform regularly also like we pour two drops of ghee in each nostril before sleeping and after a bath that will also beneficial for us.

Raktamokshan


Raktamokshan is the type of panchakarma in which 60 to 80 ml of bloodletting will be done. This procedure is useful in the impurity of blood, all skin problems, boils, uric acid increased, gout, herpes, swelling, cellulitis, acne, etc. Raktamokshan or bloodletting having different types but mainly bloodletting with the help of scalp vein and leeches are very much popular.
